Jane Wesman- author of ‘Dive Right In – The Sharks Won’t Bite: The Entrepreneurial Woman’s Guide to Success’- wrote this article featured on Entrepreneur.com (posted on August 6th, 2018). I strongly recommend that you read it, as some of what she wrote certainly hit home for yours truly.
In it, Wesman discusses the fact that three issues she explored in her book (published in the 1990s) remain obstacles for female entrepreneurs today. Such obstacles include: women’s need to achieve perfection before taking action (i.e. when launching a business); discomfort about discussing money/guilt about striving to achieve vast wealth; and, craving likability in business.
In addition to my Saturday Story, I commonly write about social media trends (as I am a freelance writer, editor and social media manager). There are many ‘holidays’ I didn’t know existed prior to referring to HubSpot’s Ultimate Social Media Holiday Calendar for 2018. Global Day of Parents was one of them, which is observed every June 1st.
I am not a homeowner, but I have always wanted to own property. My grandfather worked in real estate, and always advised family members to “own a piece of dirt” (because they’re not making any more land). I’m in my early thirties and I have yet to achieve this goal. In pursuit of answers, I attended the Fireplace Financial Chat, hosted by Cashflow Planning & Group Benefits Advisor, Joy A. Adams, this past Saturday at the Lakeshore branch of the Innisfil Public Library. This month’s guest speaker was Renee Dadswell, a mortgage agent from The Mortgage Station. To my surprise, I found not only answers, but peace of mind.
